A Few Rules and Thoughts to Help Us through This Semester!!
1.RESPECT - Don’t do anything that would aggravate me or anyone else in this class. 2.When I talk, you are not talking. When you talk, I am not talking and neither is anyone else.
See Rule #1 3.Be in your seat when the bell rings with your spiral notebook out working on the warm up of the day. Journal, Current Event.
See Rule #1 4.Always show respect to your fellow students, teachers, and school property.
See Rule #1 5.I will dismiss you from class. Please don’t be gathering your books together until I dismiss you.
See Rule #1 6.Come prepared!!Bring all of your history materials with you to class every day.
See Rule #1 7.Homework is to be done at home!!If I catch you trying to do the homework at the beginning class, or copying someone else’s homework, you will get a zero and will not be able to make it up.
See Rule #1 8.No writing or passing notes.I will take, read, and share with your parents all notes that you choose to pass or write in class. If I catch you on your phone, I will take the phone and answer it! I know how to text, and I text people back, and or read text messages like a passed note.
See Rule #1 9.If I ask you to do something, you need to do it, even if you disagree. If you have a problem with something that happened in class or something I am doing, discuss it with me after class.
See Rule #1 10.Always use a proper heading: First and Last name, date and period on the top right corner of paper.
See Rule #1 Late work policies:
Any assignment handed in after the time of collection is considered late.Individual late assignments will be accepted only with teacher discretion.
It is your responsibility to get notes and/or information from a classmate for any day that you miss.
You have the number of school days missed to make up homework from that time period. If you are gone the day an assignment is due, it is due upon your return.
History Notebook: Everyone is required to have a history spiral notebook for this class this semester. This is where you will keep your notes and journals for this class.
Planners: Everyone is required to use a planner to keep track of all homework in every class.I will be checking these periodically, so make sure you are writing in it every day!The planner, organization, promptness, time management and work habits will count as an executive skills grade.
Participation: I will be giving points for participation. You will lose points for off task behavior, whining, disruptive behavior, tardiness, and writing/passing notes. You may also earn bonus points for outstanding behavior, such as excellent work, cooperative behavior, no absences, and doing what I ask when I ask it.
I also give “Catch You” points for supporting, participation or attending extra curricular activities such as a sports event, piano recital, theatre production, etc.
This is your class as much as it is mine.I am here to help you learn and enjoy science, not make you.The rules, policies, and class setup are here to make our year together fun and challenging. In the end, you are responsible for your learning, your behavior, your GRADE, and your growth as an individual. Please do not be afraid to let me know what I can do to help you get the most out of our time together!!
